MSSC Certifications
The Technology and Logistics program is pleased to announce that the funding received from the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration will allow ELAC to become the first community college in the region to offer the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) certification in Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) certificates as college credit courses.
The funding has further allowed ELAC to become a certified testing center for the MSSC.
Two new Logistics courses are under development and will be ready to roll out in Fall 2010 to help students prepare for passing the nationally recognized MSSC certification. Logistics 104 is geared toward entry-level workers or people ready to start a career in the Logistics industry as well as prepare them for the CLA certification test. Logistics 105 includes Green Logistics concepts and will prepare students for the CLT certificate. The CLT is designed for employees already working in mid level jobs in Logistics.
For enrolled students into the grant, the grant will pay will be paid for the certification textbooks and testing fees. Students will only have to pay the normal fees to attend ELAC.
Both certificate programs will eventually be offered online.

LOGISTICS 104 – LOGISTICS: Cornerstone Essentials (3 units)Certificate for Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) |
This course will provide the foundational knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain logistics and will introduce students to the fundamental knowledge, skills, and competencies to accomplish the critical workplace activities that are common to all logistics facilities across a global supply chain. Learning materials will be at no cost to the students enrolled into the grant and will include a .PDF textbook and e-learning modules. Students will have an industry-based learning experience and at the same time prepare for their certification. The certification test will also be at no cost to students officially enrolled into the grant.

LOGISTICS 105: Green Logistics and GIS Technology (3 units)Certificate for Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) |
This mid level technical course will introduce students to environmentally sustainable concepts, technology, and “Green” sustainable logistics practices within transportation geography, along with mid-technical level material handling competencies. Fundamental GIS (Geographical Information System) functions are introduced. Learning materials will be at no cost to the students enrolled into the grant and will include a .PDF textbook and e-learning modules. Students will have hands-on learning experience and at the same time prepare for their certification. The certification test will also be at no cost to students officially enrolled into the grant.
